The staff provides total nursing care to renal patients as well as general medical patients. The goal of the Nephrology unit is to provide comprehensive nursing care to the renal patient and general medical patients. Job Summary: The Licensed Practical Nurse shall perform services in the provision of supportive or restorative care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Minimum Requirements: Graduate of an approved School of Nursing. Current LPN license with North Carolina State Board of Nursing. Participation in continuing education programs as required by hospital and NC State Board of Nursing. Must have a good basic knowledge of nursing principles and practices. Possess the ability to relate effectively to patients, their families, physicians, staff and all others using proper channels of communication. Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit(s).
