Join a team that will make you feel valued and discover the meaning behind.Clinical Appeals Specialists perform medical necessity reviews for the Clinical Appeals Unit (CAU) This position will work collaboratively with Patient Financial Services (PFS), CDI, and coding staff to coordinate case flow, and to provide guidance regarding denial management. This position will conduct thorough reviews of the medical records and draft appeal letters and discuss cases with client clinical teams. This position will support Optum’s increased focus on streamlining outpatient and inpatient client clinical appeals. This position will enable CAU to bridge the gaps between CAU, PFS, coding and CDI teams.Position is telecommuter, with minimal travel requirement. Occasional overnight travel may be required for team building or client engagement but not to exceed 10%.You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities: Triaging denials (Medical necessity vs. Coding vs. Technical) and identifying the root-causeConducting reviews and responding to insurance denials. Writes concise, factual letters and provides medical record documentation to support appeal. Effectively communicates verbally with external and internal customers to ensure argument for appeal is clearly presented. Responsible for the denials process, including subsequent appeal to health insuranceAssures appropriate action is taken within appeal time frames to address denials received by CAUCollaborates with other departments/resources/entities as applicable to ensure the most optimal appeal outcomeUtilizes appropriate applications (e.g, Cobius, eCAC/CDI (We currently use Nuance CDE-One and Nuance Clintegrity but ONLY utilize Cobius to track denials) to accurately track clinical denial data; participates in the development and implementation of a system-wide process for appealsExperience in using hospital applications including but not limited to EMR (Epic), Encoders (Nuance Clintegrity360), and CDM tools (Cobius)Has extensive knowledge of applicable Medicare, Medicaid, or Commercial determinations and policies, including Local Coverage Determinations (LCD/LCA), National Coverage Determinations (NCD), Policy Bulletins, etc.Ability to accurately apply utilization review criteria (InterQual) when necessaryAssists with continuous quality improvement of the established appeals processKnowledge of and the ability to: identify the ICD-10-CM/PCS code assignment, code sequencing, discharge disposition, CPT/HCPCS in accordance with CMS requirements, Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, and Coding Clinic guidanceWorks in conjunction with multiple units including CDI, coding, legal, Mid/Back rev cycle teams, Providers, payers, and other vendors You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Great work you’ll do here:
Patient Care Coordinator (formerly Transitional Care Coordinator) works closely with hospitals and other facilities to coordinate continued patient care with home healthcare services after discharge. The Patient Care Coordinator assures quality customer service to patients, families, referral sources and co-workers. This role serves as the Home Care Consultant, educator, and customer service specialist to referral sources. It is important to assists in meeting agency monthly targeted Medicare admission goals by assuring incremental growth in assigned facilities.
• Evaluates clients for Home Care appropriateness and defines disciplines appropriate to meet client’s needs in the Home Care setting
• Communicates effectively and positively with clients, families and both internal and external staff
• Collaborates with other service providers to identify appropriate Home Care clients
• Begins the admission process, by accepting referral, obtaining initial intake information and obtaining physician orders
• Acts as the key contact for client questions and resolves issues as necessary
• Retrieves all related healthcare documentation including F2F supporting documentation and all necessary medical information to ensure a smooth and safe admission for Home Care services
• Inputs/transmits medical information into the healthcare EMR system, (currently Kinnser) in a timely and efficient manner
• Provides on-going care coordination within defined regional territory
• Retrieves payer information/insurance benefit coverage for the admissions process
• Maintains a weekly call plan and documents referrals processed on a weekly basis
• Provides on-going communication with referral sources to reach and achieve agency budgeted census goals
• Acts as the liaison between Intrepid Home Health and our partner agencies to ensure continuity through the transitions of care
• Makes recommendations based on evidence/practices that best align with the clinical/social needs of the patient (e.g. participate in arranging durable medical equipment, home infusion company and/or placement in assisted living facility)
• Completes other assignments and duties as requested and assigned to accomplish the goals and objectives of the Company

As a Volunteer Coordinator, you will develop and conduct a continuing program for recruiting, training, evaluation and retention of volunteers. This includes joint home visits, observations made when volunteer is providing services, verification of contact notes and clinical record documentation, observations of communications and involvement with interdisciplinary group and evaluation of overall performance.
Additional duties for this Hospice Volunteer Coordinator role include, but are not limited to:
• Interfacing with the Administrator and/or Patient Care Director to aid in the overall development and enhancement of the volunteer program.
• Supervising and establishing goals and objectives the volunteer program.
• Responsible for screening, selecting, evaluating and counseling of volunteers, to ensure these individuals meet the highest standards of personal integrity, emotional maturity, responsibility, flexibility and sensitivity to the needs of the dying patient and family.
• Assigning volunteers to meet program needs and volunteer interests and skills.
• Coordinating and participating in volunteer training and orientation sessions.
• Assessing and identifying volunteers’ educational needs and implements appropriate programs.
• Participating in exhibits, workshops, promotions and conferences to promote community awareness.
• Is flexible and works cooperatively for agency needs, needs to be available on weekends and holidays.
