Primary tests include, Culturing, Gram stains, Biochemical testing.For the microbiology lab specifically they will need to at a minimum to read gram stains which will be an interactive portion of the interview. They will be asked to review a stain under a microscope and verify what they are looking at to properly identify the specimen. Any additional micro bench testing will be a plus as they can tach most of the rapid diagnostics testing.The micro lab involves more critical thinking then most as the cultures and gram stains they are observing vary and determining abnormalities is extremely important.
